My notebook came with WinXP Home but I changed it to WinXP Professional. Since then I keep seeing 256MB RAM instead of the 1024MB RAM which is the correct memory size. What should I do?

I would open up the RAM expansion slot on the bottom of your laptop. Check to see if the RAM card is still in the computer or if it has fallen out. Even if it is a little loose it might not be making the conections it need. Just take it out and put it back in and see what happens (make sure to do all this while the computer is off).
