The answer is Straight NO!!!!!
but I am surprised Most of the ppl who answered here doesn't know anything about Placenta eating (or placentophagy) but still they answerd.
Placentophagy is actually found in animals to:
1) get nutritions
2) get oxitocin which ease birth stress
3) hide birth signs from predators
Can you tell me exactly for what reason a human being will eat placenta of his off springs while
1) Humans are already well nourished there is no need to get nutritions from placenta and there is already nutritious food available for you in many forms.
2) Oxitocin is available with all doctors.
3) No predator gonna eat your ofsprings so there is no need to hide birth signs.
In fact says there's no medical justification at all;
Although the placenta is revered in many cultures, very few customarily eat the placenta after the newborn's birth. Those who advocate placentophagy in humans, mostly in modern America and Europe, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands believe that eating the placenta prevents postpartum depression and other pregnancy complications. Human placenta tastes very similar to beef, with a springy texture similar to the heart. A variety of recipes are known to exist for preparing placenta for eating in spite of the extended taboo against eating parts of human beings.
Hope that answers the question

No, vegetarians eat only vegetables because of the harm that the animals experience, so by rights they shouldn't eat placenta as it is part of something that was "living". Saying that there are lots of vegetarians that eat fish, cheese, eggs etc... So if they really want to eat something that comes from a living creature, they just make excuses!!!

I think, yes. i am a vegetarian and i would not consider eating the placenta to be breaking my personal vows. its the kiiling of the animal that is the crime in my view, i cannot justify the killing of a living being to satisfy my desire for meat. The mother or the child would not be hurt in any way and thats what is important, the placenta is going to be thrown away and the goodness it contains is out of this world!!

Placenta? Sounds like a cross between plasma and ballerina to me. People consider themselves vegetarians even if they suck human body parts of the opposite sex and they consume countless small lifeforms all day long as they breathe (and hidden in their salads & veg).
So yes, if placenta is something small or something they do not actually chew and digest on purpose, no otherwise, and maybe (if the colour of the bluelit morning on thursdays shines cleaner than the commom ox).

If you eat your own placenta or the mothers placenta then YES you can still be vegetarian. I know a veggie family who did this and make a nice veggie stew, possibly with carrots, flava beans and a nice Chianti!
seriously, if the placenta comes from someone who has been killed or involved cruelty or death, then I would not touch it with a Grissini !

You already ate it. The fact that you're still questioning the whole scenario suggests you were uncomfortable with it, so you'll probably want to avoid eating it in future (perhaps starting with finding some new, more honest travel companions). But what's done is done, so put it behind you and move on. Most vegetarians have 'broken' their vegetarianism at some point, whether knowingly, by accident, or because someone openly lied to them. Perfection isn't the purpose; doing your best is.

No, Its meat isnt it? But then again, apperantly fish isnt meat which leads to alot of people saying they are vegetarians even though they eat fish which I find weird.
ACTUALLY I changed my opinion! Vegetarians dont eat stuff that used to be alive and stuff but its Vegans that dont even eat parts of animals that never were alive. So I guess if your a vegetarian you could safely eat placenta but if you were a vegan then not.

technically no, however they are very healthy. they are ingesting the stem cells. To eat anything cooked kills the positive aspects of it. So it is best to consume it raw just as God intended in Nature.
