when i open my computer, it works normally. however, the problem starts when i have to log-in. it successfully logs in but after 2 seconds it logs out. all i can see is my wallpaper for 2 seconds then it automatically logs out without my consent. does anybody know the cause of the problem and how i can fix it? if reformat is the only solution, then how can i save my files at least?

my bro was the last one who used my computer. he said an alert was given my McAfee that a file was infected with a trojan. it cannot be cleaned or quarantined. thinking that the file is necessary for windows to operate normally, he didn't do anything. then he shut down the computer. i opened it then the problem was there already. oh please help me!

1) First Update your antivirus program and download a small tool from symnatec (as explained in the article below)
save it on hard disk and run it to restore some of your default registry settings.
2) Disconnect form internet.
3) Disable system restore
4) Boot in Safe Mode
5) Run Full Scan on your Antivirus program and delete all detected malware files.
6) Note down the name of the detected Malware
7) Restart your computer in Normal mode
8) Do a google search on the detected Malware's name
9) Copy the manual removal instructions on hard disk

First try safemode and run a spyware program from safe mode (it usually catches a lot more stuff in safe mode). Update virus scanner ands try to clean. If you know the name of the trojan (from your virusscanner log) you can see if there is a tool to get rid of it.

Otherwise to get your files off; if a desktop system, put your hard drive as a secondary harddrive in another computer 9that has a very good and up to date virusscanner) and copy the files off.
Otherwise, boot your computer up with a linux on CD program (i.e. knoppix) and copy yoru files to an external drive.

To login to safe mode, reboot/turn on your computer. Press the F8 key while it's booting. You will see several option, chose Safe Mode. You will see some text scrolling . . . when the computer is in safe mode, you should have the option to login as Administrator. Click on Administrator. You will see a message saying " . . in safe mode . . ." click OK. Now, run the virus scan to see if it will clean it.

When it finds it, get the name of them trojan and check for it on Symantec.com. There will be "removal intructions" there.

Your computer is infected. Start in safe mode (if it allows you) and run a spyware/adware check.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
