To find this out you need to do a simple conversion.
1000g=1 kg
So...
400gx1 kg per 1000g, the grams cancel and you are left with 0.4 kg.

It's simple there are 1000g in 1kg your conversion factor is 1kg/1000g. Now multiply you conversion factor with the 400g which gives you .40 kg. Hope this helps.
