What is the best way to put names on Christmas stockings other then glitter?

I got tired of the same old stuff too. I went out and bought wooden letters, painted them white, added a little bit of glitter in the middle of the letters to match the color of the stockings, and glued them to the stocking. The way it shines is really pretty and catches your eye. It gives a bit of a 3D affect. As a finishing touch I bought paper holly and put red jewels as the berries and glued that to the top section in the top right corner in the white section. I always get compliments.

Take them to a local embroidery shop. I used to know a woman who owned a shop and people would bring in stockings all the time that were straight from Target or Walmart. She even did the fancy ones with the thick fur trim on top.

I have never done crafts, but would like to decorate Christmas stockings like mentioned here. Where did you find wooden letters small enough for the stocking?

Handstitch them on ,that way they look like the stocking was made just for that person.

If you are especially crafty, you could sew on sequins, my mom did this, and 30 years later the stockings are still in pretty good shape.

Find keychains with each persons name and attach them to the stocking (the loop you hang them from).

Use beads with letters on them to spell out each persons name and hang them from the stocking loop.

You could get fabric paint and put them on that way. Or you could sew them on. My mother one year made us some new stockings and she used fabric she cut the letters of our names out of the fabric and used the fabric peaces ot put our names on them.
