I think you should question both his IQ and his character.
I didn't have a problem with him criticizing Vince Young before he became the regular QB - many have made that mistake of thinking a guy was going to be a bust, only to see him become a star. My problem with Hoge is that he'll never admit to being wrong, and he'll try to continue putting down Young's ability. And if Young continues to play this well, then Hoge will probably start saying good things and ignoring the fact that he bad-mouthed him in the past.
The thing that gets me, though, are his comments about Young not being able to run. Did he not watch him in college, especially the title game against USC? I'm not sure if he's as fast as Vick, but he's a smarter runner and he knows how to actually protect the ball! And of course guys are going to take shots at him - how stupid do you think football fans are that they wouldn't realize this without being told?
I like clips like this, because I think more fans need to realize that many analysts aren't any smarter than you or me. There are some good ones out there, but it's great to question them and not just accept everything they say.

before the draft I actually said the same things about Vince Young. the only diffrence is that now i see Vince Young play and i realize that I was wrong. Hoge has yet to admit he was wrong, that is the part that really gets on my nerve.

He's the same idiot who said Vince young wasn't going to be anything, and that the Titans wasted a pick. (How about now, Hoge?) He's suffered so many concussions, it has most definitely affected his way of thinking. As many concussions that he's had I wouldn't be shocked if he's mildly retarded.

I think he is as good of an analyst for the NFL as Kirk Herbstreit is for College football. In other words, no he does not. They both are analysts based on name recognition alone. His analysis have always struck me as vague and he has been consistently indecisive with his picks. I think there are many others much more qualified to be analysts.

I hadn't watched him this year, he never seemed that clueless in the past, but his VY comments are mind-boggling. If he really is that dumb, how does he get dressed by himself?
