Talk of a pagans and that crap about vanity aside. I think we put up Christmas, (or Yule, if you prefer) trees these days because they are uplifing and fun! The evergreen does represent eternal life, not just surviving winter, though that is a valid point.
I am a Christian, and to those that talk about old testament books saying it is vain or evil... We are under the law of freedom (liberty) though grace. As for those who try to try to put Christians back under old, outdated (by God) old laws... well they are missing out on what God really has for the believer in our age.
So, Rock on Christmas trees, Rock on Father Christmas, Rock on Rudholph, and ROCK ON PEOPLE!

Well, for one thing, many people think they look good. Then you will hear from all those who denounce it as a pagan tradition. Martin Luther was supposedly the first one to decorate a tree to illustrate to his wife and children a site he saw in a forest. Personally, I don't put up a tree. It's just me and not worth the mess. When I was married and had kids I would do it for them. No other particular reason, generally. Merry Christmas.

The point of a tree is called the apex. We put them up at christmas as they save the dog going out in the cold for a slash.

I don't know where it started, but I am glad that it did.

Every year, I look forward to putting up the tree and decorating it. Then, I love to sit in the darkened house, with only the lights of the tree illuminating the room. We use small, multicolored lights, and set them to blinking mode. We have tinsel on the tree, and it reflects the lights even more. Sure is pretty!

Never fails to put me into a holiday mood!

Because we all need something bright and decorative in the middle of winter. It's a leftover from pagan days - and one I love.
BTW - for those who really do like these facts, the baubles used to be the heads of your enemies and the silver tinsel draped around the tree their intestines.
But I say - a tree is a tree. It's green, when most of the trees have no leaves. You can hang your pretty things on it and it looks wonderful. That's good enough for me.

Jeremiah 10 calls it a vain custom. The pagans didn't
worship sex. They worshipped fertility. The ability to
make babies. Like we need to do magic to make babies
right? Real sophisticated these pagans.
The tree was an ancient fertitliy symbol representing male
sexual potency. I got the insight one night at a
Christmas service in a church. I asked God what
was wrong with it. And I saw all those BALLS hanging on
it!

It's a German tradition that we adopted, it stuck because it looks beautiful and it's a novelty having a great big tree in your front room. I think it's brilliant.
