My daughter lives in Miami and has recently gone to some salsa dancing clubs and really enjoys it. I'm looking for a Christmas gift that incorporates her new interest since I know nothing about this any help would be appreciated!

There are salsa sites all over the web. You can surf and watch video clips to get a feel for things. The current salsa craze is really just a reincarnation of the mambo craze of the late 50's/early 60's, though many will deny it to separate the new popular form from the now-stylized form that developed in the formal ballroom dancing community. Keep this in mind while shopping around. CD's instructional DVD's, clothes and accessories are widely available. If you're brave, Latin-style ballroom dance shoes would be a wonderful gift, but shoe-shopping in this category isn't like shopping for street shoes, so be prepared for her to exchange them without so much as walking around in them. Once worn, they're not returnable.

some salsa CD's would be nice. Or maybe a dress that she could wear to a club. Also some dvd's might be good. Dirty Dancing Havana Nights, Take the Lead. both involve salsa dancing.

(maybe a jar of salsa as a joke)

good luck

Some salsa shoes. There's a super big difference when it comes to proper dancing shoes and regular heels! They're made differently, are nearly weightless and make dancing so much easier! And she'll look like a real dancer in proper sexy salsa shoes.
Open toe is for dancing in clubs, closed toe for lessons and practice

get her a CD of salsa from the 70s, like Hector Lavoe or Ray Barretto, etc. that stuff is classic dance music.

Black hair dye, false eyelashes and sequins should fit the bill.

Maybe some CD's by the Gypsy Kings or Mambo Kings also.
