South India is a linguistic-cultural region of India that comprises the four Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Pondicherry, whose inhabitants are collectively referred to as South Indians.

The largest ethnic groups in South India include the Kannadigas, Malayalis, Tamilians, Telugus and the Konkanis. Around 83% of South Indians follow Hinduism. Of the rest, around 11% follow Islam while Christians constitute around 5% of the population. South India has one of the largest Christian populations in India.

The languages mainly spoken are : TAMIL,Kannada, Malayalam, Tulu and Telugu. There are other unscripted languages, but the above are the mostly spoken languages.

Malayalam in Kasargod
Malayalam in Kannur
Malayalam in Mahe district of Pondi
Malayalam in Kozhikode
Malayalam in Malappuram
Malayalam in Thrissur
Malayalam in Ernakulam
Malayalam in so many other places in Kerala (I have lost the joy in typing the names here)
Malayalam in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu

I think some people in southern india talk these other languages also:
Tamil - some people in tamil nadu speak this language
Kannada - many in karnataka speak kannada
Telugu - most in Andra speak this language
Then there is Konkani, Tulu, and such other langauges spoken by smaller groups of people

Just kidding

Nice cut-and-paste job from Avtaar. Is actually plagiarism as he doesn't cite source or otherwise attribute. But good information.
