Celtics or Lakers?...?

Of ALL time, not just currently.
The Celtics have the banners, and some of the greatest players of all time but, the Lakers aren't far behind them in temrs of banners, and also have just as many all time greats.
Who would you pick- for being "better" or for being your favorite?

Celtics dynasty or Lakers dynasty?

In my opinion, I would have to give it to the Celtics. I'm in no way denying the Lakers greatness, nor the credibility of Shaq, Kobe, Magic, Kareem, Wilt, Baylor, West, Mikan, or any other Laker player. The Lakers have had some of the finest players to play the game, without question.
But, I think that even with the 90's Shaq and Kobe era, leaving the Celtics to slip away into the unmentionable category in basketball, I have to say that of all time, the Celtics are probably the better of the 2 (and personally, I feel the Celtics are the greatest basketball team of all time). I feel that the 1986 championship Celtics team could quite possibly have beaten any other professional team in history. I give the 1980's a split between the two teams, and I'll give the 90's and 00's to the Lakers. But before all this, I have to take the Bill Russell era as among the most amazing and awe inspiring times in sports. 10 years out of 11 the Celtics won,and that is a record I feel will never be broken

Definitely, without a doubt, the Celtics.

Up until the 1980's, the Celtics basically owned the Lakers. During the Bill Russell era, 7 of the 11 championships the Celtics won were over the Lakers.

In the 1970's, neither team fared well. The Celtics won in '74 and '76, and the Lakers won in '72 .

They met three times in the 80's, with the Lakers winning twice ('85 and '87), and they probably should have won in '84 too (Thank You Magic!!). The Celtics always had the tougher road though, with some great Philly teams, plus the Pistons/Hawks/Bucks. The western conference was much, much easier.

I've always said that had it not been for the death of Len Bias, the Lakers don't win in '87, and the Pistons don't win in '89 or '90. It just seemed like the bottom dropped out for them after that.

I agree with you on the 1986 Celtics being the greatest team ever. No team (especially in the last 15 years) would come close to beating them.

The 71-72 Lakers was probably their best ever team, winning 33 straight en route to a championship.

You really can't count the 90's-2000's Lakers because the overall quality of the league was not as good as it was in the past.

So yes, I'll go with the Celtics as the greatest dynasty ever!!

Lakers because:

Most of the Celtics and Lakers greats were in the 80s. And the Lakers won 5 championship vs 3 by the Celtics. Most of the championship by the Celtics were not against any of the Lakers great players, same argument can be said with the 3 titles the Lakers won this decade, so I won't count those. If you don't play against great teams, how can you even say you earned something...that's my opinion of why I wouldn't count anything except the 80s.

So, Lakers 5 - Celtics 3....Lakers is the answer.

You have to say the Celtics have had the better Dynasty. When Red Aurbach was the coach, they were unstoppable, winning like 9 championships in 10 years. Nothing and no one can compete against those teams.
