Treating my heart just like any other part of my body that gets wounded. I baby it, I give it time to heal. Plus I'm good to myself, treating myself to my favourite things, reminding myself that I worth it and allowing myself time to properly "grieve" the loss. I add some colour to my life (like gettting a colourful shirt or sweatshirt) I stay away from things that will make me even more sad (sad songs or movies). The best of wishes with your own heartbreak.

You let yourself learn from it and let that knowledge help you grow.
If you dwell on the heartache, whatever the reason for it, it will fester in you and never get any better. If you accept the hurt and move on you will allow yourself to learn from the experience and grow into a more knowledgeable person because of it.
It is your mind and it is up to you how you deal with it. You can control your mind you just have to want to do it. Life is too short to let yourself stop living because of heartache. Whether it be from the death of a loved one or the absence of a loved one. The last thing they would want is for you to put your life to a halt because of it. If someone hurt you knowingly then you need to realize that was their way and there was nothing you could do to prevent it.
You can do it!

Cut off completely, throw every reminder, burn it if it makes you feel better and get it out of your mind. You'll realise then how quick you can get over it. Dating helps a lot as well...even if its with random boring people. Sex with others would help but beware not to fall too soon or it'll be another heartache to deal with. Remember: fish are plenty in the sea.

Remind yourself of the good times (in a past relationship, if that's the heartache), and as time passes, the pain will lessen.

Time is the main healer, distance and distractions the other. It's why a lot of people won't commit - the pain of breaking up and seperation is like grieving, and is one of the hardest emotional states to get over.

Unfortunately, you suck it up, and let time take care of it. Don't worry, things will get better. Been there a number of times and,
while still feel a certain sadness, I've moved on.
That that doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Hang in there.

Remember that life is short! Any time that you waste feeling down about a loss in your life is a loss you keep perpetuating. Tell yourself that life goes on - it's true and once you adopt that frame of mind you'll be feeling better.

"When crying don't help, you can't compose yourself, it's best to compose a poem." ~Conor Oberst from Bright Eyes. You can do that or listen to a lot of emo...after listening to all their problems you start to feel better. :)
