I just queued for over half an hour in the post office to buy a bunch of stamps for christmas cards. I hear that next year the Post Office will be shutting 2500 branches. How long will I need to queue for the stamps in December 2007???

Alot of Post Offices are extra busy around the Christmas Period. The fact that you had to queue for a while is proof that Post Offices are popular. You may have chosen a busy period, such as lunch time when everyone in work is buying something in their lunch hour.
There is speculation that quite a few post offices will be closed down; as usual it is an action required to save money. But it is thought that it will be mainly rural post offices that will be closed down.
Alot of newsagents and other shops also sell books of stamps.
