EXACTLY!!! SHE WILL LOVE THE BOX AND WRAPPING MORE THAN ANYTHING!!!! :) and that's OK!
Just make sure what you get is AGE APPRORIATE! if it is too far off from her age she will get frustrated or lose interest FAST!
AND NOT TOO MUCH STUFF! She will get over loaded with too many toys and end up throwing them or banging around on them.

I was having trouble trying to figure out what gifts to get my 9 month old for Christmas this year as well. A friend suggested to me that rather than going nuts buying lots of toys that she will soon out grow, to get a nice keepsake for her so that when she is older she can look back and have something special from her first Christmas. I thought it was a great idea so we got her some toys and a nice baby bracelet.

I wouldn’t worry about getting her this great gift. Just get her anything you want to get her. It not like she is going to look back and remember this. Like people said she’ll probably get a kick out of the wrapping paper and boxes, enjoy that more then any toy you may get her.
You could think of getting her a stuffed animal, heck even cloths. Again she’s 9months old she isn’t going to look back on this and say “Oh well mom just got me a couple of outfits and a new bib for my first Christmas” You could also maybe get her a tree ornament, and then get her one each year after. Then when she moves out she can take all her ornaments with her.

LOL! How funny. I remember those days. Just go to Walmart and check out the stuff that is for 9 mos. old. or maybe a little bigger. On our daughter's first Christmas she was 10 mos old, we got her one of those little power wheels 4 wheelers...she was on it that day. Plus, clothes, movies (like fisher price) and just a few other toys.

Are you kidding? Do you really think a 9 month old baby has an opinion? Get the baby a diaper and a bottle; that's pretty much all they need or want at that age.

Trying getting stuff for her age that encourages learning. There is stuff out there that is like that. Also kids will like boxes until they are around 10, they can imagine the box being something else.

You hit on your answer -- she loves the box! There is a activity center out there (sorry, don't know the brand) and it is shaped like a box with the doors/window/ cut out. Really cute for crawlers. They can play peek-a-boo through the cut outs. Hope this helped -- Merry Christmas!!

Thats because boxes are more fun.
Get her something neat, and just wrap it in some big boxes.
Then you can cut and tape the boxes into a play house.
Now THATS fun.

What about signing her up for a class. Swimming lessons or story time at the library.
