You all need is broadband. Contact your local cable company. If they do not offer it, contact your phone company. One of the two should have it available. They will come and install a "box" called a broadband modem that gives you the high speed internet access.

To get the wireless part, you will need to purchase a wireless router. About $50 at any electronic store (Best Buy, etc) or Walmart. The router will attach by cable to your broadband modem and will broadcast a wireless signal that your laptop can pick up. (Sometimes you can get the wireless router included with the modem - but you pay an extra $5-10 a month for it.)

The router will come with a setup CD that will walk you through the process of install the router. It is relatively simple to do. (Or offer your favorite "geek" a free McDonalds if he helps you out).
