Cats have smaller vocal cords than any other animal. So, when ever they are pleased they make a noise which rubs the vocal cards together at fast speed wich causes a "Purr". Hope that helps!

Nobody really knows how cats purr! Why they purr is another matter. It is believed that mother cats purr so their kittens can locate them to nurse. (Kittens are blind at birth and for a couple of weeks thereafter.)

Cats purr when they are happy and content. However, cats can also purr to comfort themselves when they are in alot of pain.

I think the sound of purring is so relaxing. Somene should make a relaxation CD of it!

Because they're happy and they like something.My cat purrs when she's happy,when she sees food or me and when you give her a massage.
