Hi there. I am a 33 year old U.S born and rasied East Indian Muslim male and recently married a lovely Pakistani woman from Dallas, Texas. She really wants me to visit Pakistan one day as she is from Karachi. I was born and raised here in the USA and from what I see on the news from bombings of Western targets such as KFC, and bombings all over the country, I am a little apprehensive about visiting. She understands but she still wants me to go. Do you think I have a right not to go that is legit? I mean, I am sure most Pakistani's are law abiding citizens but just the anti american sentiment from what I always see and hear on the news is disturbing. Would you go there if you were not Pakistani?

how the heck would strangers know you're american? you look south asian right? And even if you were white, why would the assume you are american? I spent 9 months in the Middle East. Not once did someone think I was american. They all assumed I was northern european (usually german). Even when they did find out I was american they didn't care. Some might then ***** and complain about President Bush and/or the US gov't, but that's it. Only one person reacted negatively towards me, and it was an elderly man. I really don't think you'd be in danger if you went. I understand your fears, but I don't think you should be too worried about being attacked or anything like that. Robbed perhaps, but that's just because karachi has a high crime rate for that part of the world. I'd go to Pakistan, and might be this summer.

What's the matter with you buddy? Any place like that would be the last place you should set foot into. Especially an American citizen Muslim. Being Pakistani wouldn't save you. I suspect a guy with your background would be just the type they'd love to video tape having his head sawn off. Although this doesn't seem to be the rage anymore since we blast Al-Zawkawi or whatever the name of the guy was who apparently was standing out by that date palm taking a piss when a couple of Made in the Good Ole USA 500 and 1000 pound bombs hit blasting him to Kingdom Come.
I think you're wife would be wise to cool her heels and wait for a visit to the old homestead after things have settled down. If they ever do. Stay where it's safe. I think you'd stand a better chance of survival if you walked through Compton with fifty dollar bills hanging out of your pockets and shouting Ku-Klux_Klan slogans than making a trip to that Hell right now.

I wouldn't go anywhere in that part of the country....everyone out there is crazy and they just pretty much want to blow things up if not themselves.......if you like adventure and possible explosions...go!

No, I wouldn't go. There's way too much hostility there right now.
