As they took the country in a Coup in the year 2000, it would be a simple matter for him to dissolve the Constitution and stay in power as long as "He" wants. Using the Patriot Act and National Security as his excuse, he could say to the country that circumstances are just too dangerous now to "cut and run," and so we must "stay the course" until things improve. Otherwise, the previous answers are correct, legally only two terms.

It really depends on which President Bush you are talking about, in determining the way that Bush could be President again. But, yes both Presidents Bush COULD be President again even though this is very unlikely. The first President Bush could come to office again using any method (run for President, VP, or use the line of succession). The current President Bush could not run for President again but could obtain the office through the line of seccession (if he were speaker of the house or president pro-tempor of the senate), there is current debate as to if a President who has served 2 terms can run as a VP because the 22nd Amendment does not spell it out. I personally don't think that a President who has served 2 terms can run for VP because of the "likeness" clause of the Constitution which says the Vice-President must meet all of the requirements of the President.

Yes the current president Bush can be president again. It is a real stretch but possible. He could be elected vice president in 08. The sitting president dies in office. Bush would then be eligible to be president for 2 years. The old president Bush still has a term to serve as well. So the father gets elected in 08 for his second term with son as VP.

Actually, everybody is wrong in their guesses. There are a couple ways he can be president again.

One way is to declare martial law and suspend elections indefinitely. He has the authority, as do all presidents, to do this without any outside involvement necessary. The catalyst would likely either be riots over the nuking of Iran, for our safety after nukes are detonated inside the U.S. or due to a pandemic such as bird flu. Bush stated in his Katrina speech that he would declare martial law rather than send out vaccines in the case of the bird flu pandemic.

The other way is with the passing of House Bill 24, presented by Steny Hoyer (D). This bill seeks to repeal the 22nd amendment, thereby allowing this or any other president to serve indefinitely. However, it was introduced almost 2 years ago and I think it was introduced by a democrat so that no republican would introduce a similar bill or support this one and appear to be crossing political lines.

No, because the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States (I'm pretty sure it's the 22nd) prohibits any presidential candidate from running for more than two terms.

Although, with this administration, that might well try to repeal that amendment so George Walker Bush could run again.

Actually, even though I'm a Democrat, I do agree with the late President Reagan that the American people should be allowed to vote for whomever they want to vote for (for any public office) as many times as they want to.

No, the Constitution clearly spells out that a president can only serve two terms, whether consecutive or not. That's a total of eight years.
Both President's Bush have or will have served their max when the current one's term is up.

There is a legal argument to make that he could theoretically run again. FDR was elected 4 times. I know he would never run again. He is no politically strong enough and WAY too unpopular on the world and national stage to win an election in 2 years. He is done January of 2009.
