The County court house will have the ownership records, check the archives of the local Newspapers for info about the houses (it is amazing what they printed about the owners in old papers). Check the local historical society. Go to your area elderly housing area and ask someone if they know anyone who knows anything about your house. (sounds silly I know but I did that and had people coming to me for MONTHS after that telling me they or their relative lived there and what they knew about it). If you can find a title abstract that would be great. Maybe your title Insurance company saved it.

Look in the archives of the city. Also you can back track the past owners and learn about it from that.

try your City Hall... they usually have deeds and such that go waaaayyyy back...

give them your address and tell them that you would like to know the history of your home and you were wondering if either they could give you that information or if they've passed it on to a historical building or something...

good luck!
