I wouldn't say they dislike Americans.
Many Americans that travel outside the US do it no favors. They come across as brash, opinionated and give the impression that they feel that anyone who is not American is some sort of sub species!!!
Everything American is said to be so much better, the people richer etc.etc.
I have worked with Americans for 40 years and have known many fine ones. Unfortunately it is a few getting Americans a bad name.

I'm American, and I would have to agree that a lot of our people have that "real people" mentality---that they're inherently superior to others. But I honestly blame the schools and government for that one. I remember hearing that whole "this is the best country on earth" thing in second grade onward. Generally, if people have genuine pride, they don't have to be so boastful.
And about languages. I speak six including English Anyone who wants to learn another language can do so, and if they don't, that's their problem as well.

I am a transplanted Brit living in NJ. My American friends are just wonderful, warm people. I love it here.
Just as anywhere in the world, you will find nice and not so nice people. Nothing to do with nationality, more to do with personality. I think the real issue is that America has this image of throwing its weight around overseas, particularly under the current administration, which gives the country a bad name.

I'm British (or "english") and I love america and the american, but it's because your suppose to be arrogant, selfish stupid, and you have to jump i and solve things "the american way" You have the "american dream" which you brainwash people into following it even though it sort of work your self to death and then die. People get bitter and because your like "whhoooo this is really scary it might threten our american dream we have to kill them and say we did it for some other reason." Again love the americans, espilly New york Kansas Texas and califonia.

No one should be judged by their natonality. Unfortunately sometimes certain people have a superiority attitude and little culture and appreciation of others countries' values, etc. Most europeans speak at least two languages fluently, most americans don't, which shows they think the whole world should speak their language, and the same goes for culture.
