My mom died intestate. She had a term deposit in NZ bank. Both of us are not citizen of NZ but with permanent residency. I want to close her account and get the money back.
Does anybody knows the procedure and the documentation I have to prepare? Will there be any tax issue? Please help me.

Get a lawyer who specializes in estates this could take some hard work legally.

I take it you mean New Zealand? Well the rules are a lot different here in American but here; l. have you birth certificate (to prove you are her heir) 2. Copy of her Death Certificate. You will have to appeal to the courts to be recognized as the only heir. So Good Luck to you and I hope this helps you.

You will likely not get your answer here. You will need an attorney that handles estate issues to give you the process for going through this. GL.

I suggest you make an appointment to speak to the bank manager, who will guide you in the right direction, (especially if it is ANZ).
They deal with this sort of situation, a lot.
best of luck.
