I want it to be real special. I have booked 2 nights at the Hilton on River Walk, and want to ask her to marry me as the timer counts down from 10 to 0 into 2007 - as the fireworks blaze up the sky.

The huge San Antonio city sponsored New Year's Eve party is in HemisFair Park. That is right across the street from the Hilton. With thousands of people attending, getting to the Tower of the America's may be a problem. Actually, the Fig Tree Restaurant right next to the hotel would be great.

I agree with the recommendation of Biga's. Boudros on the River is great. Las Canarias in the La Mansion hotel on the River would be good.

If you want to get out of downtown, then the Grey Moss Inn, out Northwest of downtown is wonderful. Also La Fonda on Main is in the near-downtown area and has very good, upscale Mexican food.

Our daughter's boyfriend just proposed to her along the RiverWalk earlier this year at a little "island" called Marriage Island. People going by in a river barge applauded. That is a very picturesque location about 75 yards west of the Hilton.

Good luck. If you post more information of what type of food/decor you'd like. We'll come up with some more suggestions.

Either go to the Vineyards restaurant in Schertz, heading out by Natural Bridge Caverns, because it is such a cozy atmosphere and out of the San Antonio congestion, or the Palm in downtown San Antonio because the booths are private and candlelit. But you should have really eaten before midnight and maybe should consider doing this outside on the Riverwalk as the fireworks are going up, holding her hand and dancing?

My personal favorite is Biga on the Banks. Its a bit pricey, but really lovely. I hope she says yes!

you shouldn't go anywhere...... plan a night at home and surprise her or bring her to her favorite place (not restraunt....they are overrated when it pertains to proposals)
