Personally, I think every country should have capital punishment in order to bring justice to those who have commited unspeakable act against humanity. I don't think individuals who killed innocent should have more rights than their victum's families. Especially in Canada, where criminals get slap on the wrist even if they commited on violent crime.

It is always wrong to kill an innocent person. Every justice system has its flaws, and the innocent will surely be executed along with the guilty.

The US knows how to run prisons which are very punitive. Ever watch those MSNBC programs on prison life? Keep the heinous criminals in these prisons, in solitary if need be.

In ordered society, there is no room for a chronic law breaker who eventually commits murder. There is no incentive to not commit that crime when no harsh punishment is meaded out. The states with no death sentence for capital crimes have prisons full of people that have taken the lives of others. In some instances, a lifetime of incarceration is a better life than the criminal had while free. They are completely cared for at the states expense, they can learn a trade, educate themselves and improve themselves in general. The one thing they can't do is to restore the life they took and make the families and friends of the person they killed whole again ... ever!

If more states actually followed thru with their sentencing of a criminal to death, I'd bet money that, in time, capital crime would diminish. If you knew the consequence of committing a murder would lead to your own death, don't you think you'd think long and hard about killing someone before you actually did? I do!

Capital punishment is archaic, the United States is the only civilized western nation that still employs it, it is wrong because it is cruel and some inocent people have been murdered through capital punishment, and it should be outlawed, murder is murder even if it is commited in a "control" environmentit is matter of morals and we as the leaders of the free world shoiuld set the example

i think that every country should have a death penalty. The reason i think this is as follows. A man kills, say, 10 people. They send him away for life in prison. He goes there, stabs a man to death in the prison. He'll keep doing it until he dies since he has nothing to lose. Do you see what i mean??

The problem with our capital punishment system is that prosecutors prosecute those they know to be innocent. Add the death penalty to abusive prosecutors

The problem with capital punishment is that it doesn't work.

A number of States have capital punishment, but it doesn't stop murders or other heinous crimes.

Revenge is different from justice.

If fear for your own life won't stop you from killing others, what will?

People say the death penalty doesn't work, but no one messes with the mob, do they? Why? Because going againts them means DEATH.

I think we really need to expand the death penalty to repeat offenders. Three strikes, and you're dead!

the thing with it is that there are some innocent people on death row. i know that people deserve to be punished but i think that death row is the ultimate and no one should go through that. i suggest that depending on how grave the offense is or was, people should just get like life with or without parole and not death

I am 100% for it. I think that retribution is deserved in most cases. Also, I think it's a great deterrent and incapacitation.
