Look for a section of braided hose with a valve at each end, this should be connected to your rising main cold water supply and located near to the boiler. Open the one valve attached to the rising main pipework and you should hear a short rush of water through the pipes. Then open the the valve closest to the boiler, you will hear the water running through the pipe and start to see the pressure gauge rise. If you hear water and see no movement on the gauge, close the valve and check round for leaks on your radiators & pipework. With a zero pressure, the boiler will not fire, this is a safety device to prevent blowing the boiler up.

There should be a small tap/valve near the bottom of the boiler. They are often difficult to locate. When you turn it you should hear water flow...watch the needle until it gets to the right level and turn it off.
If you can't find it, look up the manufacturer on the web and contact them, they should guide you to it. This could be a thermostat problem but it is most like your water pressure.
Good luck.

There should probably be a short braided hose with small valve. You will need a screwdriver to open this valve.
Keep an eye on pressure when doing this.
You do not strike me as someone with a great depth of mechanical aptitude. Perhaps you should contact a plumber.

If it is showing 0 it will not ignite as a safety precaution.
Have you had a leak?
Try and top it up, but don't forget to bleed it.
You can top it up with the inlet water pipe underneath your boiler.
If unsure get help.

Caution...read before working on your boiler.
A man jumps out of a plane and pulls his parachute cord. Nothing happens. As he is plummeting towards earth he sees another man on the way up. "Do you know anything about parachutes?" asks the falling man.
"No, do you know anything about gas boilers?" asks the rising man.
