When opening a business in the United States, the first order of business is to get a business license from the city you are going to do business in.

My best recollection is: They wanted me to fill out a form that had my business address and maybe, and only maybe did they ever ask for any ID other than my drivers license.. maybe!

Good Luck~!

Yes. My company is owned by 2 people from the UK.

The first thing I would do... Find an attorney to set you up an LLC or S Corporation. Once you have that in place, your business is a legal US entitiy, with a US Tax ID and you should be set.

LLC and S Corp setup should not be more than $300, including the filing fees.
