As the story goes, Pandora was given a box (or jar, depending on the story) with all the scourges of the world contained inside, and told not to open it. Though, eventually, curiosity got the better of her and she opened the lid. All the ills of the world flew out before she could close it again, but not everything escaped. Hope remained trapped inside, until later when she opened the lid and let it go.
Why was Hope in the jar with all the evils of the world?
Was Hope considered to be one of the evils?

hope is in the container because hope is needed to continue on even with all of the evils, but hope was not needed until the evils existed. hope is not considered evil.

Pandoras Box Hope

I quote this from the passage: " For the creature that Pandora shut into the box was the most dangerous of all. It was foreboding, the final spite. If it had flown free, everyone in the world would have been told exactly what misfortune was to happen every day of his life. No hope would have been possible. And so there would have been an end to man. For, though he can bear endless trouble, he cannot live with no hope at all." this is the only correct answer available =)

Hope is like dreaming. If you spend your life hoping for things to happen instead of working towards that hope you spend your life in your mind instead of living. Hope can also make you unappreciative of the reality, if you hope to get a really great gift for Christmas, and don't ; you don't realize the really great gift of Christmas is that you get to spend it with your family or/and people you love. That's why I thihk hope is in the jar, because it has a dark side.

Hope can be both good and bad.

Hope staying in the box was significant because without it, the world is bleak and pretty much horrible.

However, once hope is released it can be a double edged sword. Hope is good because you have something to cling to in trying times. Hope is bad because you can hold false hope which sets you up for a bigger fall in the end.

it goes both ways:

hope can be good. it can bring you out of the worst times. since the evils were in the jar, and not in the world, hope was not needed. then, after the evils came out, it was needed.

hope can also be an evil. because of it, people cling to a false reality and don't look at what's in front of their faces.

Keeping hope does not assure one of success, however one cannot achieve success without it.
