Kent State University, May 4,1970. Elements of the Ohio National Guard opened up on student demonstrators, killing 4 students and wounding 9. The question has always been why were these National Guardsmen, with no training in riot control or even crowd control, given live ammo. Just a blunder by the brass.

More than once. The most infamous may be the Kent State shootings.
The Kent State shootings, also known as May 4 or the Kent State massacre, occurred at Kent State University in the city of Kent, Ohio, and involved the shooting of students by members of the Ohio National Guard on Monday, May 4, 1970. Four students were killed and nine others wounded.

4 students at Kent State University in Ohio were killed by over-zealous National Guard troops brought in to quell the crowd while they were protesting the U.S. involvement in Vietnam. What does modern technology, particularly unmanned drones and GPS, have to do with people being out of control?
Doesn't it scare you that you apparently don't know anything about our fairly recent history? What are you learning in school? No U.S. history classes anymore?

How could you not know about the Kent State tradgedy? "4 dead in Ohio" from CSN? The song is still played today. Of course it has happened, probably more often than we know about.
