The problem is that militants and terrorists ( they call themselves them freedom fighters ), are the population. Of course there are now those in Iraq who were not there before we attacked Iraq, but, contrary to what our government approved press reports have trained us to think, most of those fighting us in Iraq are Iraqis! The same is true in Lebanon and Palestine. If you bomb people, they tend to get fighting mad. The sooner we rid ourselves of these erroneous concepts, the quicker we can properly understand the situation Bush has put us in.

Unfortunately, militants and terrorists are mixed into every civilian population. While it is important to prosecute, and if necessary eliminate, it must be done so with care. If you are slyly criticizing the accidental deaths of innocent civilians during the conduct of war, I will say "while it is a tragedy, it's an unavoidable fact of war." It doesn't make it right, but it's not going away. You should criticize war itself if it is bothersome. But that's another discussion altogether. If it is any consolation, if you compare statistics on "collateral damage" from war to war, you will find that allied* strikes on enemy combatants in the last 15 years (*specifically coalition forces involved in 1991 Gulf War and 2003 Iraq Invasion) netted an extemely low ratio of non-combatant deaths. Precision guidance technology and defined rules of engagement have allowed battlefield commanders to achieve tactical (and therefore strageic) objectives with much lower loss of innocent life than before.

Maybe instead of being a victim, they should fight back for themselves against the terrorists.

Would you rather live under a dictatorship that doesn't respect your life, or would you rather risk death so that others may live in freedom?
