My wife and I have been married for 10 years and have 3 kids. It is really easy to get drawn into everyday life and not give her the emotional support she needs. When I see that she is really down I just stop for a minute and talk to her. Ask her what is wrong and then normally bring up some funny thing we have experienced in the past. It is amazing how a few minutes of communication and joking around can change someones day.

good question, well lets start with easy things first. these might sound funny but trust me they work! little notes of appreciation go a long way to letting your mate know you care. slipping them in pockets, sticking them on bathroom mirror, etc... flowers are always a good thing! but put thought into them so he/she knows your really thinking about them. getting them a favorite book to curl up with is a great way to show them you care and that you pay attention to what they are interested in! simple things like cleaning up the house so the other doesn't have to, that's a great one! your showing your concern for the others well being. cards that say how you feel about them are always a nice way to show you care. now for the more bigger things you might want to try. breakfast in bed or just his or her favorite breakfast is a real pleaser. lunch and dinner are obviously great too. little gifts are always nice, a movie they want or CD. a favorite candy. these are simple and they really show they other how much you care!

my husband is a pilot so he's gone a lot. I like to bake him cookies and pack them in his bag so he has a surprise.
I write messages in the bathroom mirror fog so he sees it when he gets out of the shower. I make sure the house is a calming and welcoming place for him when he gets home from his trips. I make his favorite foods. I let him play his dumb video games.

For your wife : flowers at work , then everyone sees how much you love her.

For your husband , something that has to do with sports , get tickets to a game if you can.

Bring her flowers.
Chocolate.
Arrange food in smily pattern
Short sweet emails during the day
Dance with her at unexpected times (tango in the kitchen while the spaghetti is cooking - makes the kids laugh)

My husband will come in grouchy and I usually sit on the sofa beside him and give him little pecks all over his face. In no time flat, he is smiling. I love it when he smiles.

what ever they like do it for them food, flowers, leaving them alone, taking them out to a movie, making love if you don't , or if you do it to much just chill with that person if they like that. You should know exactly what your spouse likes. If not trouble!

Give backrubs, leave little love notes, fix his favorite foods, have dates together and most of all laugh together.
