reasons
1) photographic plate get affected when light fall on it. it get damaged.
2) black color absorbs about 98% of light and doesn't allow to light to penetrate through it. and keep photographic plate safe.

c. If light were to hit the photographic plate before you used it to take a photograph, the whole plate would become fogged (partial light damage) or completely black.
