The meaning is compromise. When you "meet someone half way" you compromise, and they compromise.

For example, you want to see a movie that is funny, the other person wants drama, you would both try to pick something that was a little funny and a little dramatic.

Another example would be you want to buy a farm, your partner wants a condo near the city. A good compromise (or meeting half way) might be a Ranch style house in a suburb.

Don't blame yourself, you did what you felt was right all the way. Things didn't work as you planned but thats not the end! There is still hope one day you two might get back together. But you need to focus on you and moving on. If it was really true love do you think you would be here right now? No, God has a purpose for us all and that special someone, and if she isn't your true love you will find her and be blown away. I'm sorry this happened to you and this does happen to people. 23 is not old by any means you have plenty of time to go to school and settle down with that right girl. You may hate school now but you will find that once its over you will be much happier with your career. Like the saying goes, if you love something let it go, it it comes back its yours, if it never returns it was never yours to begin with. Stay strong have faith, and never lose hope.

Reciprocate the other person's opening up to you equally, so that you meet the other person "half way" , not waiting for the other person to walk all the way up to you and then deciding, or walking the full length to the other person, risking exposure without knowing anything about the other person..
