I LOVED "the Stand" when I read it back in high school. Other than that, "Rage" and "The Long Walk" were great to me. Most of his other stuff's been pretty good. I also like the Dark Tower series quite a bit.

The Dark Tower Series and It are my favorites. He is one of my favorite authors because he creates such great characters - even when the plot of the book is a little thin, the characters draw me into the world he creates.

For nonfiction, his book On Writing is very enlightening. Plus, he lists a bunch of his favorite books.

My favorite would have to be The Stand. The second, extended version.

I never completed the entire Dark Tower series...it kinda got old for me.

The Stand is my fiance's favorite book of all time, however my personal favorite Stephen King, (and I have read every single one of them) is Needful Things. The Cell is also quite excellent.

Another vote for The Stand. I first read it during winter, and I got the flu right after I started it. I remember being so engrossed I thought to myself "why am I bothering to go to work? Soon the whole world will be dead and it won't matter." But that may have been my fever talking :)

Being a Red Sox fan and once having been lost in the woods for a long time, I have to say 'Girl Who loved Tom Gordon'.

His early books are my favourites. The later ones tend to be written like screenplays.
