I am a poet. Never been published cause I never submit. I tend to write when I feel inspired to do so. Everyone tells me how great my poetry is, but are they just being nice? or do people really enjoy poetry?

Most people do enjoy poetry. Some prefer to read it, while others prefer hearing it spoken. Don't be shy; submit your work. Think of how your writing can make the world, or at least your little corner of it, a better place.

I have a minor in creative writing because I love to read and write poetry. You should go to a poetry reading and read some of your work, and consider taking creative writing class. By all means, submit, submit, submit. This is a refreshing topic! Good luck to you.

Who are the "everyone" that you refer to? your friends and family will not give you an honest critique. Take a poetry workshop or college class, and get a few strangers to read your work. Having someone tell you to rewrite your lines or suggest different word choices, can be a pain to your ego, but in the long run, your writing will be better.

My one piece of advice for aspiring poets: Study form. No matter what. Even free-verse poetry needs form.

I love poetry. My English degree was concentrated on the Romantics, and I also love the Beat poets--I would call Ginsberg's "Howl" the ultimate piece of American literature in the twentieth century.

Some people do enjoy some of the poetry.
Ask someone competent to read your work and give you their opinion. Good luck.

i like poetry. particularly the Romantic poets like Wordsworth, Coleridge, Keats and others. And no longer some thing incorrect with a grimy limerick sing alongside over some brews after a rugby activity.

i've been in love with poetry ever since i read Jim Morrison's poetry book "Wilderness" in 7th grade. as far as what other people think about your poetry you shouldn't give it much thought. as long as you feel good about what you wrote nothing else matters.
