Master of Puppets. That is the song and album that I believe put them on the map. It is one of the greatest albums ever written.

wow, hectic question. personally i believe that you need to rate songs that were not written in the first albums. although songs like master, one, blackened and so many others deserve to be named. you need to realize that they needed to grow and reach a point where their style is defined. the metallica album, or black as some kids call it contains a medium of the best and the worst. metallica as they wanted to be. listen to "wherever i may roam". it contains all the elements that made them famous in the first place. distinct melody, ambiance and story. maybe not the most technical or fast. but definitely a true "tallica" masterpiece. sweet

My personal opinion in One. It's just an eerie song..not sure why exactly I think it is their best.

None of them. Their music is cliche and dead.

Youre stuck in the 90s.. it's almost 2007!
