I saw on discovery some people where trying to hover off the ground, but all they manage to do was bounce up and down and look happy.

Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to fly.

But I hear the secret is to throw yourself at the ground and miss.

I was standing in 80 - 90 mph winds one day in 1998, and it felt as though if I had the right jackets on that I would be able to hoover. when I jumped, I did momentarily get a sensation of being airborne.

One of Gods laws comes into play here. In this case it is called the law of gravity. And think goodness for this law just think if you could defy this law and went a bit to far you would shoot off the planet like a rocket.

No. If anyone can do this, or anything supernatural - like speaking to the dead - then they can claim a million dollar prize from James Randi http://www.randi.org/research/index.html

Unfortunately, no one has ever been able to prove that what they do is anything more than a magic trick.

I have never done it myself. But I have heard that it can be done. Me and some friends have tried to do some wierd think called "light as a feather, stiff as a board" but all that happened was a stack of boxes and papers fell over in the corner of the room.

yeah, probably jumping up and down would be the closest thing to "flying". And yeah, illusionists don't count. It's all in mind tricks, which isn't the same as actually performing.

When i was a kid i used to fly in my dreams exclusively. so much so, that i thought that i could get around by flying. i can even remember sitting on the top step at home and waving my arms like i did in my dreams so i could get airborne.
unfortunately, it didn't work and my first bubble got burst:)

however, there are stories of yogis in the himalayas that can meditate and b/c they have gone into such deep meditation, they have transcended earthly limits like gravity and can float over mountains.

i never saw it though, and i tend to only beleive in what i can see for myself.

take care:)

EDIT:
however, chris angel (mind freak) supposedly can levitate. i saw an episode where he floated from one building to another. who knows!
