I say it's preferably its up to you..Some people out there do want to know and some people out there wants it to be a suprise when the due date actually comes around.. I say if I ever have a kid..All i'm going to be worried about is not of it gender but it just being perfectly healthy; For all I care it could have purple pokey dots but if it's healthy- i'm happy. Period.

Learn the Gender, so you can ask for things more prior to the birth of the baby. You can also know how to design the baby's room before hand as well.
If you choose not to know, then your stuck with designing the room with a gender neutral look so it would fit either gender and then add to it after the birth. But if you want the suprise that's the route you'll have to take.

I think it is preferable to wait until the baby is born, just because the doctors can usually only give a guess. and it isnt always accurate. I know too many people who were told they were going to have a child of one sex, and it ended up being the other. Besides I think it is more exciting to be able to think of all of the possibilities to do with both a boy or a girl.

I am pregnant with my fourth child. Due in March. I had to know the sex of the baby. No surprises. By the way, it's a girl.

I wasnt going to find out but always from as soon as I found out I was pregnant I knew deep down what I was having. Then at the scan I had, the sonographer told me to look away but I couldn't resist sneaking a look!. So sure enough I found out what I already suspected that I am having a beautiful baby boy!. Yey!:).

I didn't want to know. I really didn't care what sex it was going to be, as long as the baby was healthy. I ended up having a boy. I had dreams in the last few weeks before he was born...and my antpartum nurses guessed it was a boy from the heartbeat.

I want to know so I can get the nursery ready and let friends and family know what gender clothes to buy. I already have two children and both times wanted to know so I could find names as well.

i would love for it to be a surprise but if i was able to know i couldnt resisit and sure enough they were able to get a good shot of my baby girl! So now i know but it nakes it so much more real to me, but i suppose there is a small chance i could be surprised if it ends up being a boy.

My wife and I were and are pregnant and I definitly wanted to know the sex of our babies cause it is fun to place a name to the child and to be able to shop for clothes and acessories toward the gender.

If you plan to purchase room decor and clothing ahead of time, it's best to know whether to buy pink or blue. If technology can tell you what you're having and allow you to be more ready, go for it! Ditto with picking out names - you can drop 50% of the decision if you know the sex.
