Triband is better as it has more range. But nowadays, phones come with quadband which is really good when you have to roam internationally. It all depends on what is the frequency of your providers in the areas you visit. So, check that and then do a little bit of research and buy either a tri or quad band. Dual band is very restrictive and so do not go for it.

If you plan on traveling to North America anytime soon, you'll want a triband phone at a minimum, quadband optimally, since one of the three bands will cover one of the two bands that NA only works in.

If you're going cheap, dualband is sufficient.

Depends upon utility. Like in India Dual Band is enough but if you travel abroad often then you definitely need Triband. If you do not travel then dual band will be enough for you.
