If your PS2 is a slimline, then ignore you won't need a PS2 modem, but if you have an original, you will need ot purchase one of these, (they cost around £20).

You then need a CAT5 type ethernet cable, (straight through, available at most PC stores for around £5 p/m), and a router that has an ethernet port on it, (if your router only has a USB socket, then you need to upgrade).

Also, you may want to consider something fasther than 256k, ideally at least a 1meg connection.

So for equipment; you need the following:

PS2 router, (unless you have a slimline PS2).
A router with at least 1 ethernet port on it, (I recommend a SpeedTouch 530 or 580 series, which is also a recommended device by several gaming companies including Nintendo and Sony).
CAT5 straight-through ethernet cable.
A memory card with enough space for the save files.
A Central Station account, (this doesn't apply to 3rd party games).

If you have all this, it's fairly easy to set up, though Sony enjoy making mountains out of molehills, and including the confirmation letter they send you, it takes about a week to register, otherwise, it only takes about an hour or so, in comparison, the GameCube takes about 5 minutes, and the DS takes about 2 minutes.

1st, you have to buy a "online modem" you can get them at any close gamestop or wallmart somewhere they sell Video games.and slide it into the spot on the back of your ps2 there will be a spot for it. then you put either ethernet cable or phone cord ""you will not be able to talk on the phone when you hook up ur phone cord"". but if you but ethernet cord you can talk on the phone when you play. hook up ur ps2 to the internet and all your other cords to the TV.
