I bet your car has air con, if so you must be having the controls set on recirculating, which recirculates the air inside the car.
You will have to set the controls to fresh air setting, you may need to change the pollen filter, best thing really is, if you do have aircon, have it serviced, nowadays there are places even your main dealer may do it at a reasonable cost . Again if your car has aircon, it is advisable to use it for a little whille even in thde winter, this is to protect the seals from going hard.
Good luck, please let me know how you get on.

Dear Olds' Odor, First you should know that the smell will fade with time. Trying to mask the odor won't fool most peoples sense of smell so forget air fresheners. Here is something that may help.... Open the hood and start the engine, turn the heat on full blast and allow it to get as hot as it does. Being careful of cooling fans and exposed belts spray an odor neutralizer like "Febreeze" into the heater intake vents located between the engine and the cab or between the fenders and the front doors. You may have to open the door to locate this.Do this for about one fourth of the can, waiting about five seconds between one second bursts of spray. Be sure one door or window is open to allow it to circulate. Don't worry, it won't catch fire as there is no electric coil in your heat system. After you have done that do the same thing again only this time use the air conditioning and spray the odor neutralizer into the air vents in the cab. Listen and feel for the suction air flow or spray around the dash until you find the recirculating intake vents by watching where the mist travels.

If it's not something else, like a coolant leak, and you've got aircon, it's that which needs cleaning.
Get a new filter and clean out the air trunking. You can get a sort of aerosol for the job that you set off inside the car with the aircon on recirculate - try Halfords.
Another (and cheaper) trick is to boil a kettle inside the car for 20 minutes (you'll need to tape the switch down and keep it full), again with the aircon on full and recirculate.
In future, keep the air on "fresh" whenever possible, and run it at least weekly whether you need it or not to keep everything lubricated.
Good luck.

If your car has air conditioning, then the most likely cause is a build up of bacteria in the condenser. This can be serviced, and should solve the problem. I recently had it done at a Vauxhall dealer for £60.

send your car to your local detailer. If you smoke in your car you can pick up a product called clean air. put your cars vent on recirculate and spray it from the intake vent down by your feet . if you send your car to your local detailer they will do this for you after they Shampoo your interior. You would be surprised but our carpets, cloth seats, and headliners, all hold smells of food smoke etc especially after being heated up all summer. Its a good idea to get a good interior shampoo before we close our cars up for winter, Use blue cloral (sold at walmart in the automotive dept.) and you can do it yourself.

mold can be a big problem in a/c systems - if that is the smell you may have to remove the evaporator and clean it with bleach - sounds like a lot of work but is the only thing that works if you live in a humid climate
