Nope not for the most part. People who weren't born into a poor family have NO CLUE. They make ignorant observations. Really poor people are born with a TON of disadvantages and have to work extra hard to come out ahead, and many don't have what it takes. Oppression and ignorance plays a HUGE role. Getting an education costs money, social problems...but of course you educated folks don't think about that stuff.
I was poor and I had to fight my way out of the intolerance and irrational reactions people have of poor people. Most poor people aren't given the tools they need to succeed unlike many of you who judge ignorantly.
How about educating yourself about the poor a little more.

many years or maybe centuries of social technology learn won't help you in case you're asking a stupid qustion to start with. adverse people "create poverty" merely interior the experience that in case you killed each and all of the adverse people poverty would not be a situation (yet merely for an extremely little mutually as). What you fairly look asking is 'who's in charge for poverty?' Can blame be laid on the ft of the adverse? There somewhat seems to be like an assumption interior the U. S. that folk unavoidably gain their rightful deserts in existence. This theory isn't so common in different cultures, possibly by using fact divisions of sophistication and poverty of threat are extra seen, and probably too by using fact there is way less of an assumption that there is something 'organic' or maybe 'virtuous' with regard to the traits favoured by employing capitalist societies.

Mostly responsible, probably not, but at least some of the responsibility needs to be put on their heads. This country has many opportunities and education is open to all who want it. Now you might not get that education at an inner city high school, but I'm pretty sure the cities have libraries. You don't have to get all your education from school, there are so many other places to learn.
Also, when you have children as children, that's really going to hurt your chances, and nobody told these girls to go out and get pregnant. Hell most of them want to anyway because that means a meal ticket from the government. Then kids have more kids and it is just a vicious circle.
I'm sick and tired of people trying to blame their station in life on others. Yes some people have a really difficult time about it, but that doesn't mean that it's the government's fault, or my fault or your fault. Things are what they are, but people come from abject backgrounds and make it. I mean it does happen. Its time for people to take back some personal responsibility for their actions and then maybe they wouldn't live in poverty. Thanks and have a nice day.

No. Too many have been born into poverty. The school system then needs to let these young people know that they qualify for student grants to go to college.
When there past school age then yes they are responsible to find away to climb out of poverty level and make a better life for any kids they have.
My parents did it and their parents did it. So in the long run it all comes down to how hard your willing to work to change your situation in life. (I feel people in the US and Canada have great oppertunities to work their way out of poverty level. But people born in poverty in third world countries need help to break out of the poverty cycle. Then there are tribes in the pacific islands that don't even know their poor, since they seem rich in their own culture and are happy in their lives. )

In the majority of the cases yes it is like a mental condition many poor people if they were given a million dollars and you came back 5 years from now most of them would be broke again. Just look at some of the poor that became wealthy and ended up being broke again, Sammy Davis, Redd Foxx, Mike Tyson Joe Louis,MC hammer, these people did not take their wealth and make it generate more wealth and put some away for a rainy day they probably just spent it. Then you look at other people that gain instant wealth like rappers P Diddy Jay-Z, Russell Simmons, they are involve in other wealth generating enterprise because they realize that what bought them instant fame may not be sustainable, that's why I say it is a mental condition.

you get out what you put in. MOST of the time. Some are dealt a bad hand, and some are born with silver spoon. I believe that you more than likely can improve your situation at any time if you make the sacifies it takes to move out of poverty. But there are a lot of people who love that the govt. will take of them while they knock out a baby every 9 months like a machine. These people are certain that they are of the right to have the govt. take care of them, and we have to let them. Sadly, that's what our tax dollars are going to. Poverty will always exist, yes, but there always is a way out.

Sure, you line up two guys to run a race of equal skill level, but only one gets to eat well before the race. then of course, the one who eats gets track shoes, while the poor one has worn out Keds. Then the one gets a ride while the poor one has to walk ten miles to the track before the race. The gun goes off and the poor runner loses, proving that he was responsible for losing a race run with all things being equal.

That's not always the case. I believe that all people should be hard-working and ambitious, but sometimes people really are victims of circumstance. Not everyone has the same opportunities or abilities.
