that sounds awesome!! South Africa normally sticks to old English traditions. It doesn't snow here either...we try and use earthy colours and trees that are indigenous to remind us who we really are....

Just like the majority of Americans, my family and I celebrate Christmas with the exchange of gifts. However, Christmas celebrations vary greatly between regions. Since the United States is such a big place, we have people celebrating in the snow and others exchanging gifts on a sunny beach. Many people have a Christmas tree that is decorated with ornaments and lights. Others have a big holiday dinner and have friends and family over. Then there are those that sometimes go to religious services, while others travel around singing Christmas carols. Christmas in the USA, is as varied as the people who live here.

We put up Christmas lights and trees and all sorts of assorted decorations. and then we wrap gifts that cost more than we can afford and we give them to one another on Christmas day and then we have Christmas Dinner, which is very much like thanksgiving dinner and then we are in debt for the next year paying off the Christmas bills. This is basically the United States way.

For most Americans it is to travel to see relatives loaded down with gifts, to eat turkey or ham or both with lots of other fixings, such as dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sause, jelled cranberry sauce, rolls, and about 4 or 5 desserts, eggnog, wine, coffee or even whiskey to drink. then they open their christmas gifts on Christmas morning.
