The horse I was riding yesterday morning fell down and I fell off. About 20 minutes after the fall my arm started hurting about an inch below my shoulder. It hurts more as time goes by. What are the signs of it being broken, how long should I wait to call the doctor? Thanks.

Whether it is fractured or not doesn't matter at this point, the fact that you've injured it and it has gotten worse should tell you to seek medical attention right away. Some sprains/strains/bruising can be just as debilitating and compromising as a fracture.

Definatly go to the Dr straight away. I had a broken finger and didn't know if it was broken or not i had an ache, and the next day my hand was swallon and turning white. The earlier they set a break the better it will heal. In some cases if you wait to long the may have to rebreak the bone while you under and operate to put it back into the correct position. Don't ever hesitate if you think somethings wrong, generally there is. So go to your Dr straight away

Extreme pain is one, the inability to use your arm is another. But you should see a doctor right away to determine just what it is and how bad it is. I had a fracture that was not taken care of and it turned into a broken bone - best get it checked out before it turns into something worst.

You could have injured your arm in many ways, breaking it is just one. You should go to the Emergency Room and get xray'd as quickly as possible. That way you can determine if it is broken, sprained, bruised, fractured, etc - and they can get you some pain medication if necessary.

is your arm swelling and turning black/blue?
do you have any tingling or loss of sensation in your fingers?
can you feel the bone under your skin - does it feel broken, or hurt too much to tell?

if so, go see a doctor. only an x-ray can tell for sure.
