A few shareholders might lose but everyone would get a boost! Of course I might be assasinated.

considering the population of the US and that hypothetically you'd be distributing equally to every citizen, the hand out would be a mear pitance compared to the initial lump sum, so it ain't worth it....but I might vote for Bill Gates for pres. If he can do just a small percentage for the country as he's done with microsoft, I'd say we'd all be winners in the long run!

It depends on what you mean by "seize". The main problem being anyone who asks such a dumb question doesn't understand what their own words mean.

But you probably are thinking along the lines of somehow taking and selling every share of stock, and giving the money away.
Of course, doing that, you have to sell the stock to somebody, which would, in the end, be OTHER rich people. You might get $50 billion out of it...divided by 300 million Americans.. yields about $150 each.. which wouldn't even pay half a month of rent for a poor family.

Now if you wanna go all out, a la Russia in 1917, storm the headquarters, kill the company officers and sell everything from factories down to the gold faucet taps in the executive washroom...You would be lucky to get that $50 billion.. and you have sent tens of thousands of ex-employeees to the unemployment office (at least the ones who weren't shot by your stormtroopers.) Do they get $150 each, too? BTW, since you're the "liberator", you plan on taking more than a mere $150 for you efforts, aren't you? "To pay for the guns and medical expenses.. and a bit for vodka, and that plasma TV looks nice.. and who'll miss this BMW..can't really divide up this bottle of caviar amongst 300 million people, better eat it myself..."

You would get plenty of votes from people who wish that the US was a Socialist or even a Communist country.
There would be long lines of people waiting for their "slice of the pie".
When you got it all distrubuted not only would GE and Microsoft be broke but shortly afterwards so would everyone who just received a handout.

Robbing from the rich to give it to the poor never has and never will work.
People can only better themselves by working for what they need and want so they will have self worth and pride in what they did.

No, Absolutely Not. Keep your filthy government out of our economy. Why do you want to punish them for learning how to run a company the right way ?Jealous much ?
Haven't you ever heard of Laissez faire, or the invisible hand? These companies succeed because they have a product people want, and a way to manufacture it. If the POPULAR vote is to end these companies, then people should just stop buying.

Hey, if that's a grassroots campaign you wanna start, it will probably save you from getting assassinated.
.
If you want communism, move to china.

Under what legal basis would you seize the money? Under the US constitution, the government can't just seize someone's (and it applies equally to people as well as companies) property without just cause. Would you like it if they just came in and took all the money in your bank accounts, took your house and your car, and threw you out on the street?

I wouldn't vote for you. Why would you want to take money away from those that have earned it and give it to those that didn't? Oh yeah, you're a democrat.
