You know, the dash piece that pops off when the airbag deploys. I'm installing gauges in it. Car is a '94 Camaro.

Don't worry about it. The airbags were taken out a long time ago.

Find another place to put the gauges. If you take the cover off and manage to do it without deploying the airbag, the airbag is still in there and unless you disconnect it, it will still deploy in a crash. Plus, if you have vehicle inspection in your state, your car will no longer pass because of the modification. If this will just be a track car, I guess it's OK.

Put the gauges somewhere else.

If it truly is nevertheless lower than warrenty, i'd carry it lower back to the dealership. If no longer, i'd carry it right into a mechanics keep to have it fixed. there is little need in attempting to do it your self and finally end up breaking the airbag gadget with out understanding it.

It's integrated into the dash panel. You must be nuts trying to remove that! Your passenger will look real nice with a faceful of gauges if you wreak.
