yash, most notebook adapters are rated for an input voltage of 100 - 250 volts ac., so u can operate globally !
only problem is the input plug / socket shape/size varies from place to place, hence a universal connector should solve issue
cost in india should be Rs: 20 to Rs: 50, depending on quality

Most of the laptops work well. But u should keep some points in ur mind. Check whether the plug socket is compatible in India and also check the power consumption since some use very high voltage. Also now service centres to maintain ur notebook. That's all how u can use a notebook in INDiA

Yes it would. Laptops can work from 110 - 240V at 50 and 60Hz. You would need an adaptor for Indian sockets though, to charge your laptop. There is no need to buy an adaptor or converter unit. A simple socket modifier is enough.

The battery chargers provided by most of the brands of Laptop (like Dell, HP, etc.) have a voltage range between 110v to 240v, hence they would function well in India. You just have to ensure that you have a universal socket (that would be available in the power/extension strips) where in you could plug in the plug of battery's charger.
