When you are in a meeting the minutes are just like notes taken in school when the teacher was talking... The can be set up in the following manor...

The minutes of a meeting are the notes of the proceedings of that meeting.

Typically produced after formal meetings to act as,

1. An action prompt to attendees who were left with things to do after the meeting
2. As a record of the meeting for non-attendees or for official / legal requirements
3. As a starting agenda for the next related meeting
