I believe there is life on other planets in other star systems. The universe is so incredibly vast that it would almost take a statistical miracle for there NOT to be other life. However, the difficulties in traveling through space are so great that a lot of people think it's unlikely that aliens are zipping around the galaxy visiting other worlds. But, our understanding of space, physics, etc. is pretty limited, so we may be missing the boat, so to speak, on how space travel should really occur.

My question is this... if there is a species so advanced that they've figured out how to overcome the challenges of traveling vast distances through space, what would be their motivation to come visit Earth, whose population would be considered incredibly primitive by their standards...

And why is that aliens only seem to abduct people that live in trailer parks? lol.

As far as UFO's, all it means is that the object is UN-identified... we simply don't know what it is... that doesn't mean it's E.T.

Well, there's lots of alleged evidence but little agreement as to its legitimacy. The UFO era began in 1947, when pilot Kenneth Arnold observed disk-shaped aircraft flying near Mount Rainier. Sightings continued, and a government investigation concluded nothing unusual was going on. However, persistent reports and the dissenting opinions of some prominent insiders have continued to pique interest in the phenomenon. Believers include a CIA director, a Joint Chiefs chairman, and Jimmy Carter. The name Roswell has become synonymous with UFOs. In 1947, the Air Force announced it had recovered a crashed "flying disk," later claiming it was merely a downed weather balloon. In 1978, a former base officer who had collected the debris said he believed the wreckage was extraterrestrial. In 1994, the Air Force said the crashed object was actually a balloon from a secret military project; it issued a final report on the incident in 1997. The debate, however, continues. Other intriguing cases include UFOs over the White House; a 1986 sighting by a Japan Airlines pilot; and the alleged landing of a craft at an American base in England, an event that was recorded by the deputy base commander. All of which is interesting, but until aliens land on the 50-yard line during the Super Bowl, skeptics will always offer alternative explanations.

My father-in-law was in the Air Force for many years, worked as a meteorologist.

One day some pilots were out flying, they were on the radar and nobody had anything else to do but watch the radar go around....

Anyway, this thing shows up on the radar- it comes in to the pilots' (there were 2 jets in the air) line of travel at a right angle, changes direction and travels parallel to the planes, all at the same speed... no slowing down to turn, just immediately changed direction.

Then it did the same thing again, taking off at a right angle, going... somewhere- again, there was no slowing down, just an instant change in direction.

The pilots saw it, it was on USAF radar.... I'm guessing that firsst they stood around and looked at each other with "What the f-- was that??!?" looks, then a) they talked about it for a week around the water cooler or b) it got classified and swept under the carpet.

I'm not so sure I believe it, but if it really happened as my husband's dad explained, guess it can't be denied....
Although I have the same question as ICStupid- why would a more sophisticated/intelligent race come here and why do they seem to only abduct trailer trash?

Well the reason people believe alien exist is because the government likes it that way. When the first 'sighting' happened outside area 51, the government only put forth menial effort to have people believe that it truly wasn't an alien contact. The government especially during the 1960's didn't want other countries to know about our technological advances so they like having people believe in UFOs instead of knowing our future designs. Did you know anything 'new' US aircraft you see is about 10 years old? So if anyone says they have seen aliens, then they're probably schizophrenic.

Years ago I tried to fly a kite on very long lines in a light wind. It wasn't working, and I'd just decided to give up when I saw a large silvery globe floating high in the sky. It had to be a weather balloon, but as I was watching it shot off at very high speed! I was completely gob smacked until a piece of thistledown drifted in front of me and the penny dropped - because I'd been concentrating on something a long way off, my brain had insisted that the first piece of thistledown was also a long way off and converted a small ball of fluff into a large silvery globe. Eye witness accounts can be very unreliable!

I saw something weird in the sky once, but I never thought that it was aliens visiting us. I just figured it was some type of meteor I wasn't familiar with.

i´ve never seen one but anyway-here´s my opinion-i believe that there´s life on other planets for sure. but i seriously doubt that they might have evolved to a level that they will travel all across space. the fact that we humans have managed to reach this stage(not travel ling all across space but we are thinking about it) does not mean that someone else has. but in case someone has-"let´s be friends" is the best thing i can think of since "they" are the ones that are more advanced...
