Hmmmm....the best goalkeeper in the world!?
Well, first of all, "the best" is to vague to answer. In what criteria? safes? penalti safes? carrier succes? thropy? transfer price? performance? (like Huguita think?), other ability (e.g. goalkeeper that matched striker in making goal, like Chilavert)? Leading capacity (being the team captain like Kahn, Scheimel or World Cup winner Cannavaro and his senior Zoff)?
Best in what?
Second: "the world" is to big to begin with. How do you know your answer covered place like Manchuria or Nigeria or Venezuela?
And in what time? Today? Last Month? Last Year? Best of Decade? Best of Century? Best-of-the-football-history as-far-as-humankind-has-recorded?
So, you know my dilemma before answering your question?

Definitely Gianluigi Buffon.. He has performed brilliantly for both Juve and Italy and though it is a pity we aren't geting to see him in action in the top competitions this season, it is also a tribute to his dedication to Juve. He won the World Cup almost single handedly for Italy, and has been outstanding at the highest levels for many seasons now.

Who else but the current Lev Yashin award holder - Gigi Buffon. He is the reason they're making such good progress back to serie A.

It WAS Petr Cech until he got knocked out by Stephen Hunt of Reading...in his absence, I'd have to say it is Edwin Van Der Sar
