I would suggest what the 1st guy said....look at the serial number and find out the product information and download the drivers. I actually had to do this myself last year when i had an older model MP3 player, it was 40 GB...yea A LOT of memory...but the thing was ancient and really big in size...i hated it, because the songs would load slowly also. So, find out what type of drivers you need, and if you need a USB cord or something, order it or buy it at a store if they have it.

you can get the songs from :

filelodge.bolt.com

all you have to do is sign up for the site, click browse, then click the link under the browse tab that says "search" , then click the drop down menu to "music/audio" , then search for the song or the artist that you want to put on your MP3 Player....after you find it ...the click on the link where it says "save as...." and when you do that...make sure you click "save as target" and then save the file onto your MP3 player...it works for almost anything I have worked with, and my friend has a mp3 player...i don't even know what brand it is...and thats how i put files on hers...and i knew NOTHING about the thing, i didn't even know how to play the songs on it...lol, but i knew how to put the music on it....it comes natural

filelodge.bolt.com

you can get FREE songs there...so i wouldn't mess with any of those sites that were listed above...those you have to pay for...why not get it for free? it can't get you in trouble because your not saving the songs to your computer, and the person that uploaded them to filelodge.bolt.com , would be the ones in trouble for uploading copyrighted material

Find out what kind it is (serial number, name brand, etc) and search online for an updated driver for your computer. Most likely it IS a Plug & Play and once the updated driver is installed you will have no problems. Songs from your computer are uploaded to your player via a USB cable, which I assume you have or can get...

Good Luck!

**EDIT**

Get your music form the internet, LimeWire (FREE), etc. Some good sites listed below by the other people!

If you have music CD's, just open up your Window Media Player and start Ripping the CD's to your computer.

If you need songs, you can get them off of Itunes. After that you take the songs that you bought and burn them to a disc. And then you can proceed to rip that cd to the mp3 player.

Other sites to download:

Walmart Music
Napster
