As a member of the media myself, I totally agree that we give way too much publicity to people like Brittany Spears. I find that she has no talent and is not in any way original.
She just follows in a long line dancing, singing sheep...problem is, the pop culture followers have no real talented people to look up to. The hiphop community has sexualized everything for blacks, whites and hispanics.

No one knows the kind of talent from the sixties and before. When people could actually write lyrics that were astounding - they had great voices - now it's a joke.

Brittany is the icon for all that is wrong in the now so-called music world.

You're right. People don't giver her enough credit. Seriously performance standards have gone to crap in the last few years. If Britney performed in her prime some of these people would be ashamed to show their faces. She still makes all the bitches in the game look like school kids. Two marriages, two kids, two divorces, and a breakdown later and the girl is still able to sell out 97 arenas. Everything she touches turns to gold. Not bad for someone the tabloid press came close to writing off at the start of 2008. But lets face it. She has 2 kids now and they are her world. Her career is not her first priority anymore.

I am not a fan of Ms. Spears or the media and this is NOT a defense for either but its just the way it is. Ms. Spears is what the media wants her to be. How would any of us be portrayed if we were followed night and day by scum bags with cameras only selling head turning train wreck photos or video clips? Brit would not be Brit if the media would not have created her, she would not be trash if the media would not have painted her image that way. Its the same for everything... War, politics, disasters etc. we are fed only what will sell... How sad.

Spears is like any other celeb that craves publicity and she also does not seem to avoid the newspapers when they so called corner her..publicity is for all the vain people. As far as you saying that the average American does not know what this war is all about is true and I also would like to point out that they also can't point to the location on a map either where the war is or some even where they are in the USA. By the way ask them who is the Vice President ? surprisingly 60% will not know the answer.

Well, yeah, that's what they do. Aside from what the media tells us, most of us know absolutely nothing about most celebrities. So all of these negative opinions, unless coming from someone who's personally spent time with the person, are formed entirely with the information fed to us by the media. And, of course, with the war, every media source has their own agenda, and they're going to try to influence people one way or another.

We only know about Britney Spears what the media (and other sources) tell us. So the way that they give us this information, will influence our thoughts on Britney.

We are to an extent being "force fed" just the information that the media "WANT" to tell us, and want us to know about....

Therefore it is a little 1 sided, however we can all make up our own minds. ;) :)

She is human just like the rest of us. She likes to go out and have fun... just like the rest of us.... I'm sure she has a very good nanny (or her family?) who is taking good care of her child, when she goes out partying... Again, the media try (trIED) to percieve this as "bad parenting".
She is a girl (a very talented one at that) who has been very successful, i say all the best to her, and I have alot of respect for her.

A resounding yes to all that. There's no such thing as honest , unbiased, media reporting..its the nature of the game.

I never was a fan of Ms. Spears. I think the media gives that talentless bit of white trash way too much attention.

I think the media only does so much to tarnish Britney's image - she does the rest.

She's pure Louisiana trash; she acts like all of the other trashy girls from around here. Honestly - the resemblance in character is striking.

To answer your question. Britney is doing what she feels will move her forward in her career. She can not worry about what others think. You may be surprised how that one simple, easy to make picture, sold lots of her "Curious" perfume, in her "Fantasy Collection".
Now to comment on your comment; yes the Media enjoys a dirty blow. That how Britney got FREE mass Advertising for her new perfume. Why talk of freedom, that seems boring. Now, if we were to lose our freedom. They go to town then how this should have been done, of, course, we lose our freedom they may be out of a job.
I found a better link to show both; the "Curious" "Fantasy"
