i had gas and air birthing pool then towards end had pethedine but didnt touch me what so ever i am now 34 weeks pregnant and a bit worried about the pain but i am just being open minded again im going to see how much i can get through with out having an epidural and if to intense i will have one! it should not put you off !no one gets any rewards for going natural or not screaming so as soon as you go in to labor next time which i bet you do have another ask for an epidural! good luck x

Yes, I did it 7 months ago with my daughter and shes my first baby. I decided I didnt want drugs so wrote a bithing plan with my Midwife and had her natural. I wasnt offered drugs as I asked them not to unless I requested them and I used a home from home room at the Hospital which has a normal bed, huge bath and a settee. It was painful but the comfortable room helped and I used plenty of breathing techniques and my partner used birthing massage (we learnt it at a class run by a Physio) this helped the pain and he felt he was doing his bit too.
Afterwards I was so proud of myself and when I have another I will do exactly the same.
Good Luck and ask your Midwife for exercises and classes you could go to.
Merry Christmas xxxxxx

i recently had my first baby. my birth plan was to use gas and air and pethidine and i was hoping id be able to get through it without an epidural. i ended up having a waterbirth with no pain relief at all. it was so lovely. i felt really in control and i recovered really quickly. the water was a huge help, i couldnt have gone drug free without it. it just made the whole thing much easier and i didnt have any tears.
i felt on a high after the birth, the baby was really awake and aware, and my husband was just so proud. i cant wait for the next one now.

My friend had a terrible birth with her first child. Immense, pain, drugs, left her really traumatised. Everytime she used to see a pregnant woman or anything to do with birth on the TV, she'd cry.
She fell pregnant with her second and had him at a local centre, no drugs and she said it was the most wonderful experience of her life. She's trying for baby number 3 now.
If you want more kids, don't let it put you off, you only regret it in later life.

i laboured at home for 3 days with my first baby completely drug free, using just breathing techniques and a positive state of mind to get through each contraction. Once in hospital i used gas & air for 45 minutes while i pushed. Having a natural birth is best for you & baby. All you need is will power, a calm disposition and less hysterics. After all it's what we are all here for and your body is designed to do it. Epidural? No thanks I can do it on my own.

I had both mine naturally without any drugs.
It meant that I was up and about much quicker and also baby was not groggy.
I am not some sort of earth mother figure, each to their own. I just coped with the pain well on the day.
The birth is a tiny part of your childs life - it everything that goes on afterwards that counts.

I am Tarekssss' wife
I understand if you have already made up your mind to not have another child, but for the sake of other pregnant women please don't tell your "horror story" about the pain.
Please do research other ideas as to why your pain was so intense and realize that pain is not what it is all about.
I have birthed 2 children drug free in my own home under the care of a super great midwifery team!
You could start you research at http://www.yourchildrennaturally.com

just imagine what it was like for women in the days b4 there were painkillers.
women continued to keep having babies and jsut dealing with the pain and trials of childbirth.
your body is made to give birth and perfectly capable of handling it.
we happen to live in a drugged up culture where we use drugs for any and every little thing that comes our way. and we tell women that they can't do it on their own without the use of drugs.
suck it up. you are stronger than u think u are.

I had four drug free, natural births. They are now 13-22. it has been so long that I don't remember the pain. Actually right after they were born I forgot about the pain. It was worth it to me.
